century courts of northern Thai and Shan kingdoms.
The
exhibition runs from December 2003 to May 31, 2004 and
is open to the general public.
THE
JIM THOMPSON CENTER FOR TEXTILES AND THE ARTS
The Jim Thompson Center for Textiles and the Arts, a
two-storey structure located on the grounds of the Jim
Thompson House museum, has been built by the James H.
W. Thompson Foundation to house rotating textile and
cultural exhibitions. Leading art historians and academics
are invited as guest curators for the various exhibits
which include loans from public and private collections.
Through
the establishment of the new gallery, the James H. W.
Thompson Foundation Under the Royal Patronage of H.R.H.
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn hopes to further contribute
to the preservation, dissemination and broader understanding
of Thailand's rich cultural heritage.
The
Jim Thompson Center for Textiles and the Arts is dedicated
in memory of the highly respected Thai art historian
H.S.H. Prince Subhadradis Diskul, a grandson of King
Rama IV and past President of the James H. W. Thompson
Foundation.
